Helping poorer people with disabilities - is one of the beautiful thoughts of our club
It is an honor for me to welcome you on the website of Rotary club Žilina.
I am the member of the large Rotary family since 2004. When my friends from my Rotary club Žilina trusted me and elected me as a club president for the rotary year 2011/12, I often put various questions: What to change in our activities? How to improve our club activities? Has the club president to bring new projects?
I have analyzed the positive aspects and reserves all of our projects and I came to the conclusion that there is no need to change or modify something that is functional, meaningful and brings benefits to the people who need it.
For this reason, we are very pleased to continue to support activities such as the International Festival of Youth Creativity and workshops Jašidielňa, support for Autistic school and Active wheelchair project.
Among the main our goals ranks obtaining funds to support our projects, but also meeting up with friends and people who are close to the principles of Rotary ideas. For people with disabilities will always be a celebration when we meet them at VIII. Benifit Concert on the 25th of November 2011 or at XI. Charity Ball on the 4th of February 2012. For them it is a rare opportunity for a while to enjoy special moments.
Long-time club projects and International exchange students allowed us to establish the amount of personal contacts and sometimes life-long friendships across borders. Also our club will continue this awesome work in this rotary year. We receive three young people from the U.S. and Mexico and we enable four our students to recognize life in the U.S., Canada and Brazil.
Other priorities of our club include maintaining and developing friendship between Rotary clubs, in particular between the Czech-Slovak District of Martin, Liptovský Mikuláš, Ostrava, but also other, participation in Rotary International activities, in the aftermath of natural disasters as well as the global fight against polio and ensuring sufficient water.
By the occasion of the 16th anniversary of our club I want to take care of the revival of our Rotaract Club. I myself also would desire to transfer to our club activities the district Governor Thomas Lang's ideas to expand active member of the Rotary Club, contribute to Polio Plus and each Rotarian have to plant a one tree.
Yours sincerely,
Jozef Guldan,
President RC Žilina 2011/12
